P1. TV

Watching television is not one of my favorite things to do. I would rather get up, and go do something else. I don’t really watch a lot of TV. The only main time that I really watch TV is at night, before I go to bed. I just lie on the couch and relax before bedtime. I especially like it when there are good movies on to watch. I absolutely love Nicholas Sparks and Harry Potter weekends. They are the best! Shows that I like to watch NCIS, CSI: Miami, Criminal Minds, Reba, SpongeBob, and Pretty Little Liars. In my house, there are 6 televisions in my house. Two of them are the ones to play a VHS. Those are still my favorite because I love old fashioned. VHS are my favorite. Have VHS and DVD shows how much things in life have changed.  There are many positives and negatives associated with watching TV. TV is definitely something to do when there is nothing else to do, which is positive. Instead of just listening to something, it’s a visual. The weather channel is a good example of this. People listen to the radio for finding out how the weather will be. However, on TV, people can actually see the weather patterns, what places it hits, and what will be the weather for the days to come. TV can also be educational, which is another positive. The negative side to TV is that with the shows kids are interested in these days, they drain their brains in a way. It does no good for anyone, and then this ends up being all that they want to do.  It decreases the positive thoughts of wanting to go and actually do physical activity. It is sad to say that this is pretty true. This makes me not like TV that much.

O5. Writing Process

My writing process for this class is pretty simple. Every two weeks or so, we have to write an article. The one topic that I have always done is something having to do with sports. I pick the JV sport that was in season at the time. And, for sports, we are only allowed to pick a sports team that we are not on. So, I had to pick JV teams. I did volleyball, basketball, and currently doing softball. I am on the Varsity team of all these sports, so it is an easy access to information from the JV. Every time I have an article to write, I go to the coaches and collect information. Sometimes I do an article all about the coach. However, most of the time, it is all about stats and current games. I both interview the coach and take notes from the questions I have him/her answer. Or, I have the coach email me the stats. At times, I go to the team captains and get insight on how the season is going. I usually add quotes from them in my article. It gives reader a better understanding of the team, along with other information. For the organization of my article, I keep things separate. Certain information goes in certain paragraphs. For the most part, my articles are pretty well written. I try to make sure my writing is not too choppy and use correct grammar. With writing, one thing I struggle with is vocabulary. I try my best to compare words of the same meaning, and choose which one would sound better within the article. Then, once all the hard work is done, I turn the article into my editor for any adjustments. If there are some, I correct them, and then submit the article to get approved. It ends up going into The Bulldog Newspaper, and it rocks!

O4. My Mom & Dad

My mother is such an important person in my life. My father is also a very important part of my life. It is unbelievable the amount of things they do for me and my whole family. They inspire me every single day of my life. I don’t go a day without being so thankful that they are the kind of people they are. My mom is one of the strongest women I know. She always has everything in order and truly makes life a lot easier. And my dad, there is no man in this world that I love more than him. In softball and all my sports, he always is there to help me in everything.  My parents are the most amazing people. They both work to put food on the table, send us to school to get an education, and care for my sisters and I like no one else. My parents are so helpful with everything, also. They always volunteer for everything and do so much for others. They always are putting everyone else before themselves. My dad is the volunteer athletic director and coach at St. John the Baptist. I have never seen someone have so much pride in a school. So many people look up to him and respect him for everything he does, including me. My mother volunteer for coaching sports at St. Johns. And, when there are special events at the school, she is the first to step up. A major thing that both of them are a part of is travel softball. Lindsey, Anne, and I all played travel softball at the same time at one point. And, they supported each one of us, each step of the way. Now, it is only Anne and I who play. However, it is still a lot of time money and effort put in. That takes up our whole summer, and you would never hear them complain once. I would never ask for any other parents than the ones I have. They are the reason why my life is as good as it is now. I love them to death, and I don’t know what I would do without them.

O3. Prom

It is that time of year for prom! This year is my first time going to prom and I am very excited. My sister went to prom a lot and I always loved to help her out at this time of year. There is picking out a dress, shoes, jewelry, makeup, and hair styles. That is definitely the most fun about prom. This is a little unique for prom this year because I am re-wearing my sister’s prom dress from senior year.  She is so excited that I am doing this because now the dress will get more use out of it than only that one time that she wore it. We are very excited because this also saves money. I don’t have to go buy a dress! I am going to wear the same jewelry she did also. At first, when I first started thinking about prom dresses, I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do. Then, one day I decided to try Lindsey’s dress on. I fell in love with it right away. It has a Cinderella poof, and that is one of my favorites. I knew that this had to be the dress I wear.  I feel like a princess in it. I am very excited to be the day of prom, and I get to put the dress on and wear it all night.  I am going on my Nick’s bus, and this should be a blast as well. I will be with the most fun people all night, and I am ready just to have so much fun. I am on prom committee, so I know what is coming already. This makes me even more excited because it will be very nice. Afterwards we are going somewhere with the limo and then to Nick’s house for the night. I can’t wait for prom to be here already!

O2. College

This is very true that people somewhere else are doing way worse than I am.  Also, I agree that dropping out will cost more in the longer run than attending college. College is not for everyone, however, in the end, people need to think of the expenses. College will help you a lot in the long run. However, I know people that did not attend college and they have a lot going for them right now. For me, I want to go to college. A dream of mine for a while has been to go to Canisius College. I want to major in child education. I love to work with kids and I can’t wait to get started with that profession. If I can’t find a teaching job, I can always work as a special education teacher or work at a day care. I really would like to work with kids, and stick with it. Also, I would love to play softball in college. It has been my biggest dream since I was a kid. Canisius has a very good softball team, and I am going to work so hard to be a part of it! I am going to college because I want to have an organized plan in life. I’m not saying that people who don’t go don’t have a plan in life. This is just what I want and what I think is best for me. I want to continue with my education and look forward to a good future. I really only have my eye on Canisius and for right now, I don’t want to attend any other college. I hope that the college likes me and i get accepted. That would be one of the best moments in my life. The only thing I can do is work hard to the best of my ability.

O1. The Buffalo Sabres

On Sunday, April 7th, the Buffalo Sabres defeated the New Jersey Red Devils 3 to 2 in a shootout. Gerbe was the only goal scorer in the shootout. Also, Miller having an all-around outstanding game for the team helped out the Sabres a lot. The win was a contributor to winning three straight games for the third time this year. It is a very exciting moment for the Sabres. There could be some hope for the playoffs. They are only four points away from the 8th place spot to make it into the playoffs. The New York Islanders are currently holding that spot. But, I believe the Sabres can boot them right out. For this specific game, the fans were pretty rowdy. There was a lot of booing toward the Sabres, especially because of how many times and at moments how long the puck stayed in their own end of the rink. I feel as if the fans are just getting sick of the same old Sabres. Yes, they are on a pretty good streak right now, but they need to keep the good things going for them. Everyone is getting tired of the little mistakes that cost them the game. No matter what, the fans will still support their team for every game. If they didn’t appreciate and love the Sabres, why would all the fans spend money to go to so many of the games? The arena is usually full of people. That still says something about the pride that the fans have in their Sabres. The booing a negative remarks that fans give the team should be an eye-opener for them that they need to step it up. Seeing the fans in the 100 level all on their feet shows interest and support. No matter what, the Buffalo fans are not going anywhere. I will always be a big Sabres fan and believe that anything can happen. I believe that the Sabres have all the right details to make it to the playoffs. The support is there for them along the way.
